The College for International Citizenship (CIC) Course
Co-sponsored by the University of Birmingham, Joseph Chamberlain College and ourselves; this course will equip you with a unique insight into global issues of governance, environmental stewardship, world development, human rights and peace. The course is delivered by an international team of lecturers (see: www.cfic.org.uk for more details).
Pathways into Education Course (PIE)
Co-sponsored by Lifeline Options, Newman University College, Birmingham City Council CYPF (Children, Young People and Families Unit) the College for Internaitonal Citizenship and the National Union of Teachers, PIE enables refugees and migrants to gain access to a unique British education familiarisation course which may lead to Qualified Teacher Status or other entry into the education field (eg as teaching or language support assistants). The course includes job application skills and interview techniques, skills audit, practice interviews, intensive English and IT.
Building Bridges Course
This course provides a bridge into the medical, paramedical and nursing professions for aspiring refugees who have been de-skilled by a long process of seeking asylum. The course is co-sponsored by Lifeline Options, the University of Birmingham and the NHS Heart of Birmingham Trust (HOB).
Programme for Refugee Enterprise Service Specialisation (PRESS) and “Refugees Into Recycling”
We also assist in engaging refugees in the world of business and its associated professional skills, with a special emphasis on new opportunities in the ecological field. This is sponsored by Lifeline Options and existing partners in the West Midlands Social Enterprise Scene.
