Our Services - Asylum Support Advice (Section 4)

Several hundred destitute asylum seekers pass through our doors every year, many of them seeking Home Office UK Border Agency support under Section 4 of the 1999 Asylum and Immigration Act. We make assessment of their situation and keep files under the guidelines of the Information Commissionerís Office for Data Protection (ICO) and the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC).

We complete Section 4 support applications for the many who require our services and we liaise fully with the UK Border Agency Section 4 teams. We also carry out many appeals to the First Tier Asylum Support Tribunal in London on behalf of individuals whose applications have been refused.

In the asylum welfare field Lifeline Options works in daily co-operation with the local branches of the relevant charities, Birmingham Law Centre, Refugee Council, Red Cross, Childrenís Society, ASIRT, RESTORE (Birmingham Churches Together asylum befriending/public awareness), Refugee Services in Coventry and Wolverhampton. We make referrals to two initiatives established through this network and managed from Birmingham Law Centre. These are the Hope Destitution Fund and Hope Housing. We are well known to many providers of somatic and mental health in our region.

Please contact us for guidance or details.
